It is common knowledge that the US market is the hardest for any artiste to break into! Successful UK acts have been trying for decades to break the North American market but only a handful have been able to make any type of impact on the charts over there.
With the Nigerian music industry at an all time high, gaining attention from mainstream music acts like Jay Z, Kanye West & Drake, could our music be ready to conquer the US charts?
In April Jay Z announced his cousin was in Nigeria to sign artistes to Tidal & Roc Nation, just last week Drake jumped on the remix of Wizkid’s Ojuelegbaand just a few moments ago, popular radio personalities – Ebro of one of New York City’s most popular radio stations – Hot 97 announced that he was going to debut a new track from Don Jazzy, Reekado Banks & Di’Ja featuring Jay Electronica called Get Down, he also announced he was dedicating 5 whole minutes to Nigerian music on his primetime radio show.
