I have just heard a bomb went off in Nyanya an hour ago, barely three weeks after the Nyanya bus park blast which killed over 80 people. Here’s what I have heard from someone who visited Maitama Hospital Abuja where a lot of the injured have been taken to for treatment. The bomb allegedly went off before reaching it’s target, which was a busy market in Nyanya. The bombers are alleged to have died.
We don’t know how many lives were lost or how many are injured. All I know is that the scene at Maitama Hospital were scores have been taken to for treatment is gruesome.
UPDATE: The blast, which was a suicide attack occurred at 8:45pm when a bomb-laden car exploded at the Karshi Taxi Park, a few metres from the Nyanya Bus Park where the April 14, 2014 explosion took place. According to Punch 25 bodies were taken to the Maitama District Hospital, Asokoro, four corpses were dropped at the National Hospital while one body was was taken to an unidentified hospital in Nyanya.
A resident of Nyanya, who identified himself as Lambert, said he was walking along the road when he heard a loud blast which shook the area and sent everyone scurrying in different directions.
He said, “I went to the park, but the scene was alight with burning vehicles and there were corpses of people on the ground as well as dismembered bodies; there were body parts on the ground including hands, and heads. It was a gory sight and I had to leave the scene.”
Someone sent me the picture below from the scene of the blast…Warning it’s gruesome
