Do you agree with TIME Magazine that President Jonathan is one of the Most Influential People in the world?

Yesterday TIME Magazine released it’s annual 100 Most Influential People List for 2012, and guess who made the list our president Goodluck Jonathan. According to TIME,“they are the people who inspire us, entertain us, challenge us and change our world.”

Here’s what was written in TIME about him

Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan exemplifies the African political renaissance at a time when the people of the continent are starting to reap the fruit of their resources and their hard work. President Jonathan, 54, possesses the qualities needed at this moment of great challenges, having come to power at a crucial moment in the history of Nigeria. The country has grown out of its past of corruption, mismanagement and brutality, but the foundation of good governance is still fragile.

In two short years, President Jonathan has shown the same dexterity he demonstrated as governor of Bayelsa, the same ability to find the remedies to the many complexities of running a nascent democracy. He has spearheaded the fight against corruption and turned Nigeria into an example of good governance. He has also made a significant impact on consolidating peace and security in West Africa. From the onset of our own crisis, Liberia has benefitted from the support of Nigeria. President Jonathan not only upheld the trend but added to it. With leaders like President Jonathan, Africa is sure to move toward prosperity, freedom and dignity for all of its people.

Johnson Sirleaf is the President of Liberia

Congrats Sir! See his response to the honour after the jump

Nadia Buari is a Fashion Fail as she attends Charity Gala with Halle Berry in Beverly Hills.

Nadia, Nadia, Nadia why would wear those ugly shoes with that dress? You are such a pretty girl with a nice body but you need a stylist ASAP! I know some very good ones, send me an email and I’ll hook you up :)

Nadia just doesn’t know how to put herself together for a lot of these public appearances, take for instance the above appearance which was the 2012 Jenesse Silver Rose Awards Gala which took place April 14 in Beverly Hills, CA. The semi formal affair had a lot of A listers like Halle Berry and Nadia Buari shows up looking like a hood rat in her tacky ensemble.

James Ibori sentenced to 13 years jail time for corruption, plus the comedy that is John Fashanu (Updated with Video)

Just a few minutes ago former Delta State governor James Ibori was sentenced to 13 years in prison at the Southwark Crown Court in London on charges of corruption.

While checking out Daily Times Nigeria who were giving live updates from the sentencing venue, it was evident that James Ibori’s lawyers and supporters are not only liars but seasoned comedians as well. John Fashanu (former England & premiership footballer) took the stand as a character witness, had a lot of jokes when he took the stand.

The man is in the wrong profession…he needs to be on the Kings of Comedy tour with Cedric the Entertainer and Steve Harvey

Some of what he said when he took the stand as a character witness

  • During Ibori’s time as governor he was responsible for building I9 mini sports stadia and three Olympic sized stadia in Delta state, one of which is where JJ Okocha was discovered (Please note Ibori became governor in 1999…Okocha was already playing professionally in 1996)
  • Ibori built the first shooting range in Nigeria (Of what use is a shooting range to anyone…what is this the deep south where everyone and their grandmother is packing heat?)
  • Ibori’s lawyer said his client played a part in supporting British industry even before he became governor. As evidence, he cites a letter from British Airways, thanking Ibori for restoring direct flights between Nigeria and Britain. (Erm…really??

Before sentencing the Judge told Ibori that his sentencing would not be the end of the matter as his property will be confiscated, and there will be serious consequences if that process runs into problems.

Because of Fashanu’s obvious perjury a topic #Fashanuforgotthis started trending in Lagos, see some of the hilarious tweets that followed with this hastag after the jump

Ghanian Actress Yvonne Nelson talks about her relationship with Jim Iyke & lesbian rumours

In a recent interview with Diasporan Star (an American based African tabloid) Ghanian actress and fake Louis Vuitton retailer Yvonne Nelson, spoke about her relationship with Nollywood bad boy Jim Iyke. Last year there were rumours making the rounds in online and print publications  that the two were involved in a torrid affair.

In the interview Yvonne debunks the rumours saying:

I am not dating Jim Iyke and that’s the truth, but I want to confess that we have a very close relationship. We have a great chemistry together- call it some form of magic between us, especially when we act together. He is a hot guy and I like him a lot. We are always together when he comes to Ghana to act in movies and I drive him around. When I am in Nigeria, he does the same for me.

There were also rumours that she was a lesbian (claims she slammed as well)

I am not a lesbian, lesbianism is against my religious beliefs, it’s against my cultural norms and I think it was very mischievous for people to insinuate such about someone they hardly knew. The rumor, was started by a notorious website in Ghana last year when they reported that they had never seen me with a man. In their warped and twisted calculation, I was a lesbian. Can you imagine such crass reasoning? That they had not seen me with a man, and may have seen me with my girlfriends going out to have fun, and then automatically I was a lesbian.

So there you have it, she was never involved with Jim Iyke and she’s not lesbian.

Let me just say most people are of the belief that homosexuality is against their religious beliefs, it doesn’t stop people from practicing it, so if that’s her reason for debunking the claims, she needs more people #JUSTSAYING

Ini, Monalisa, Funke, Oge…Which Nollywood Diva looked best on the AY Live Red Carpet?

Ini Edo, Monalisa Chinda, Funke Akindele and Oge Okoye were one of many celebs at AY’s comedy show which took place Easter Sunday in Lagos. While Ini, Monalisa and Funke opted for a super glam look, Oge Okoye kept it casual.

But the question is…

WHO LOOKED BEST?

New Music | Muna – Here to Stay x Down Down Low

RMG artist Muna‘s been off the radar for a bit, but she’s back with two new singles. Here to Stay featuring IBK (Spaceship Boi) and Down Down Low. Listen to both tracks below and drop a comment on which is hotter.

“Just like a London Bus, when you wait so long at the bus stop for one, then you get two buses arrive at the same time. RMG signed Rapper Muna has just dropped 2 songs to remind her fans that even though she’s been quiet for a minute doing other non music projects, she’s still holding her own in the rap game in Nigeria. The 2 songs, Here To Stay (ft. IBK) and the ‘destined for the club’ banger Down Down Low (ft. Tomi Thomas) will officially be released in the coming weeks but she can’t wait to put it out there online for the fans who have been waiting for material from her since her collabo with RMG label mate Michael Word in Pop Sugar.”

New Video | Loving Me – M.I

Barely a few hours after his long awaited Illegal Music 2 mixtape, M.I drops the visuals to one of the tracks on the mixtape Loving Me. A little obvious that a large budget wasn’t available for this, but regardless the storyline meshes well with the track. Check the video out down below.
