Ebola: Patrick Sawyer’s Widow Decontee Sawyer Says, “Nigerians Are Still Angry At My Husband Even Though He’s Dead”
The name Patrick Sawyer has become synonymous with Ebola in Nigeria. He became a household name for the wrong reasons when he knowingly came into Nigeria with the deadly virus, infecting over 20 people, 7 of whom died.
His widow Decontee Sawyer did not warm herself to the hearts of Nigerians when she defended her husband’s decision to come to Nigeria knowing he had he disease. [READ HERE IF YOU MISSED IT]
She later apologized.
In a new interview with MPR News, the widow and mother of three said she believe Nigerians are still angry at her husband.
The widow who lives in Minnesota says she has been struggling financially since July when her husband died and needs to claim benefits for her 3 daughters, but she needs to prove her husband is dead to apply for benefits and to do that she needs a death certificate, which she claims the Nigerian government & First Consultants Medical Centre the hospital were Sawyer died are both refusing o give her.
Decontee Sawyer believes the reason why she hasn’t received Patrick’s death certificate or cremated remains is because Nigerian officials blame her husband for the Ebola outbreak.
