Mikel Obi Gives His Share Of Japanese Billionaire Katsuya Takasu’s Donation To Samson Siasia + Team Refuses To Release The Money To NFF

After the U23 Nigerian Olympic football team won their bronze medal at the just concluded Rio Olympics on Saturday, the team were gifted $390,000 by Japanese footballer Katsuya Takasu who has been a fan of Nigerian football.

He had made the pledge to gift team a few weeks back if they won a medal…but no one thought he was serious until he shocked us all by handing over the cheque to Mikel Obi.

Takasu gave team captain Mikel Obi $190,000 and $200,000 to Head coach, Siasia and the rest of the team to share equally. But Mikel has gone a step further to give his share away to Siasia.

#Rio2016 “He Never Essperred It”, Nigeria’s Divine Oduduru Comes A Very Close 2nd To Usain Bolt In 200m Heats

Last year a Nigerian athlete went viral when he said 4 words we would never forget…”I Never Essperred It“…4 funny words which that would automatically become a part of Nigerian lingo.

Today he’s gone viral again…his name is Divine Oduduru and today in Rio competing for the Olympics, he came a very close second to the world’s fastest man – Usain Bolt, while competing in Heat 9 for the 200m race. Oduduru finished second with a time of 20.34s while Bolt, ran a time of 20.28s.

This means the underdog is qualified for the semifinals.

#Rio2016 Nigeria’s Dream Team Bans Sports Minister, Dalung From Camp Ahead Of Germany Semi Finals

Nigeria’s U23 Football team at Rio has banned the Minister of Sports – Solomon Dalung from their dressing room before and during their semi final match against Germany tomorrow [August 17].

The reason the team is banning Dalung alongside his delegation is to avoid any distractions that he brings. The need 10000% focus to take on Germany and hopefully win!

In other news the Sports Minister has sent packing from Rio two players and three officials. They are alternate players – Stanley Dimgba, Yusuf Mohammed, alongside the team’s media officer – Timi Ebikagboro, curator and team coordinator.

#Rio2016 Solomon Dalung Denies Mikel Obi Paid Hotel Bill For Team Nigeria Officials

Yesterday we told you about how Mikel Obi saved Team Nigeria officials from a very embarrassing situation after the could not pay their hotel bill at a hotel in Rio at the ongoing Olympics.

According to the report Mikel who is the captain of the U23 Football team repping Nigeria at #RIO2016 put down $4,000 of his own money to pay the bill which should have been paid for by the Ministry of Sports.

The Minister of Youth and Sports – Solomon Dalung who referred to Nigeria as the United States of Nigeria when the team got stranded in Atlanta, is now debunking the reports about Mikel Obi.

The Nigerian football Olympic team have threatened to boycott their quarter finals game against Denmark at the ongoing Rio Olympics due to the deplorable manner the sports ministry has been handling funding.

Just this morning we reported that Mikel Yobo saved the team from embarrassment when he personally paid the team’s hotel bill after some officials were detained by hotel staff for the unpaid hotel bill which should’ve been paid for by the Sports Ministry.

The team’s head coach Captain Siasia is backing their decision, speaking in an interview with Brila FM he said they have been disrespected by the Ministry and allowances have been paid for only 11 days, they are to receive their match bonus and he says personally he has not been paid his salary in five months.

There have been so many eff ups by the Nigerian Ministry of Sports in the planning of athletes participation at the ongoing Rio Olympics.

From the Under 23 team being stranded in Atlanta for ticket payment issues, to Team Nigeria’s Olympic opening ceremony fail when they were forced to wear their tracksuits cos their outfits were not ready on time to Under 23 team officials being detained for failure to pay a hotel bill that should have been settled by the ministry to athletes having to pay for their own flight tickets and now the latest disgrace!

Our athletes are freezing their a$$es off in Rio! They are cold!

No thanks to the Sports Ministry, Nigerian athletes are still somehow making us proud at the ongoing Rio Olympics.

Last night Aruna Quadri made history becoming the first African EVER to make it to the quarter finals stage of the men’s single table tennis event at the Olympics. The feat was recorded when last night Quadri beat the 13th ranked player in the world, Boll Timo of Germany 4 – 2.

A few days ago we told you about the Minister of Sports – Solomon Dalung‘s embarrassing response to the Under 23 football team being stranded in the Atlanta enroute to The Rio Olympics.

He not only referred to Nigeria as the “United States of Nigeria” but he also said it wasn’t his or the ministry’s responsibility that the team got stranded.

He got dragged on social media for his comments…

Irrespective of Dalung’s cringe worthy  comments the boys went on to beat Japan 5 – 4 barely 5 hours after arriving in Rio.

It seems someone might’ve persuaded the Minister that his comments were unbecoming of his position because today he took to his Facebook page to tender a public apology.

Nigeria’s U23 football team has had a very long and arduous 48 hours getting to Rio for their opening match at the Olympic Games.

The team who got stranded in Atlanta because of issues paying for their flight, arrived in Rio just 5 hours before their opening match against Japan.

Jet lagged and frustrated no one would’ve been surprised if they lost the game but they did us proud, winning 5 – 4.
