4 years is a long time to go without releasing an album these days, and that’s exactly how long it has been since MI Abaga released his sophomore album M.I 2, back in 2010.
In that time, a lot of acts have popped up in Nigerian Music, naija rap has come a long way in that time, indigenous rap has become “cool”, with the likes of Olamide, Reminisce and Phyno being some of the most consistent in that field, as Wizkid, Ice Prince, Davido, Iyanya, Flavour, P-Square and a lot more have become internationally recognized artistes.
So, how can the self-proclaimed “African Rapper No 1” show he still got it? Answer: release the most complete rap album from Nigeria in a long time. Which he has done with “The Chairman”.
Here is @KingWole’s verdict on MI Abaga’s latest album. The album will be judged on 4 important factors: Production, Lyrics, Features & Flow.
